18th Birthday Coco Chanel cards

Recently I had an order for some custom cards.. The beautiful birthday girl was having a Coco Chanel pink/white/black cake for her birthday, so her Mum asked if I would mind creating some cards for her on behalf of the siblings..

This was very exciting for me as. I have been wanting to learn for quite some time how to make a Handbag Card... And seriously, what could be better than that style while channeling Coco Chanel! :)

The card isn't much to look at from the outside.. It has a faux crocodile pink leather cover held down by magnets and the stunning bling from Memory Maze as the feature embellishment..

However, the inside of the card had me playing with all sorts of goodies..

The base is plain Black cardstock.. The pattern paper is a VERY old piece, I use to have dozens of this particular paper, but this was the final piece..

White cardstock to break up the design.. Diecut lady and cats at the bottom.. Some gems.. The washi in the middle was again channeling some Cooc Chanel.. lol..
The chipboard numbers in huge middle have been heat embossed..

The second card was from her younger brothers, they affectionately call her "Sissy"..

The original design of card that the mother had loved and ordered was this one.. So I needed to make sure that even though I got to try something new with the Handbag Card, I still wanted to give one this style also..

Again, still sticking with the Coco Chanel theme this card is quite girly girl.. Plenty of bling, flowers, butterflies and beautiful patterns..

10 minute cards

10 minute cards

A few months ago I shared with you a quick layout for time poor scrapers, so today I thought I would share two very quick 10 minute cards using a Memory Maze chipboard as the feature.
The making of these cards took no longer that 30 minutes in total. This includes sitting at my craft desk, coming up with the idea, making of the two cards and then clearing my desk again.

"Sister" was coloured with two Gelatos to match the paper and embellishments.

The "th" has been cut off the 40th. This card was made for a Music fan friend of mine. She loves Red, black & white so this turned out simple and perfect for her. The chipboard piece has been coloured with a teal ink then some Kindy Glitz lightly spread over the top.

I hope you find some inspiration from these cards, so next time that you find yourself walking out the door to a special birthday without a card, it's ok to stop for just a few quick minutes to make a cute card that will be cherished for much longer than it took to make.

Custom Bling Box

Welcome back Chippie fans. Today I am here to share with you yet another video tutorial, but this time it isn't a canvas. This time it's to show you what you can build with plain uncut chipboard. This is a fun and custom made box especially designed to store my Memory Maze BLING.

Bling Box

I started with plain 8"x8" chipboard pieces and designed this box myself for myself. So it's got a very girly colour palette with some white distressed trimmings.
It does spread open as you can see in the photo below for easy access when needed. Then it can completely close into a box for when it's not being used.

-- FIND THE VIDEO TUTORIAL HERE --

Some quick process photos;
Made with just two 8x8" squares of chipboard..
First piece was turned into the frame.. I also cut off 4" from the top of this to make an extra large box for the middle, but didn't need it.. Instead it made a smaller box for the other side panel..

2 large middle boxes and 4 smaller side panel boxes..

Once the boxes have been cut, tape them together..
Then the panels are covered and the boxes were covered in Washi tape and the Bling Box starts being built..

The boxes are later painted white and some shabby chic edges with white paint also.
Purple straws, mini flowers, twine, ribbon, lace and a button to finish off the embellishments for the inside of the box..

The Fancy Border chipboard piece from Memory Maze has been cut to suit the length of the panels, then heat embossed with purple powder and stuck to the back..

Thanks to my two boys.. Lane assisted me to put the boxes together and Hunter pictured below, was very generous with his creativity ideas.. :)
As you can seek the box panels can fully close to make a boxed shape when not in use or completely spread open so you can see all the lovely bling inside..
