Scrappy Canary - November

Welcome back.. Today I bring you my November challenge entry at the Scrappy Canary blog..
I've been a regular visitor of his blog for a while, but this is the first time that I've actually entered one of their challenges..

This month challenge is a Sketch, I fell in love with this design immediately..
So much so, that I decided to create TWO layouts..

Nanny's Girl

This layout features a photo of my Aunty and my Cousin's little girl.. So that is Nanny and Brooke.. :)
I actually did another layout featuring this photo just a couple of weeks ago, but I LOVE it so much that I decided to use it again.. At least now my Aunty can have a layout and I get to keep one!
Here are a couple of close up photos for the embellishments..

The second layout I made features my Sister and her Husband.. Tiff & Curtis
This photo was taken just a few weeks ago at the Melbourne Cup..
As you can see that with this layout I expanded a little on the sketch and added some more elements and embellishments..  Now for a couple of close up pics..

Thanks very much for dropping by today.. I'm entering this as a little last minute thing, but that's only due the blog post.. I actually made these layouts during the week.. I've had guests over, swimming carnival, Christmas shopping, Kindy birthday party, School dinners and Kindy Art shows on ALL THIS PAST WEEK! So as I'm sure you can understand, this has restricted my time this week to getting this post up... Hope everyone else is enjoying the start to this fun and busy "silly" season..
Don't forget to drop by the Scrappy Canary blog too!
Thanks, Toni.. :)

Lasting Memories - 218

Lasting Memories - # 218 - All About The Title

The photo I've used for this layout was taken probably about 8/9 years ago.. I still remember the evening well.. lol..
My bestie and I got tickets to see the " Sydney Hot Shots" preform here in our little coastal town.. They are a group of men that do sorta strip routines, Vegas style.. Lots of fun to watch! No touching though!! and they even stayed around afterwards and had a chat in the nightclub.. Very cool..

I also remember something about myself winning a dance off that night! haha...

This is the last challenge for the month, so please remember that you need to link up your entry by the weekend.. All challenges over the month of November are still open for link up until the end of the month! So if you missed one, there is still time to get it in! :)

Just Add Ink - 241

Like I do on most Friday mornings before I even get out of bed, I grab my phone and jump online to check out the latest challenge released on the Just Add Ink challenge blog..

Today #241-  they have a sketch.. It's actually quite a CNS sketch focused a bit more to suit a card than a layout, but the moment I saw it I knew I wanted to have a go with it..

I used a precious photo of my cousins little girl Brooke to feature on this layout..

As you can see, I was able to keep all the essence that is what makes this layout to the challenge sketch..
The base, the three vertical blocks, the horizontal block and the sentiment is in the right place also..

I have however added some embellishments of my own to turn this beautiful simple sketch into something that suits the scale and requirements of a layout..

I'm actually very keen to create a card or two with this sketch too..
So when I get around to it, I'll add here to the bottom of this post.. So please do come and check back later for them!! Thanks, Toni..

Scrapbook Fantasies - week 46

I've been a bit hit and miss this year it seems with the challenges over at the Scrapbook Fantasies blog.. Even though I love the challenges and so much want to get some thing created, for some reason I just don't get around to it..
Anyway, thankfully this week I have! Even though it took me a few different bases to get something that I actually liked.. :)

Baby Boy

Above is the completed layout.. I am totally in love with how it eventually turned out..
The challenge is to use PAISLEY on the layout.. As you can see, I have used a Paisley stamp..
Below are some close ups of this layout..

Now are some photos of the bases that didn't quite work and flow with my different visions.. lol..

Just Add Ink - #240

Just Add Ink have just released their new challenge
240 - ADD TEXTURE!

A couple of nights ago I went searching through some of my families facebook pages for some new inspirational photos.. This one of my nephew was of them..
BRUCE

As you can see, I've used a few different types of "texture"..
The first is the paste and mist spray on the base of the layout..

Then I used some layering with the embellishments that I have fussy cut.. Ribbon and the title alpha's are glittered..
The papers are Bo Bunny - On the Go..
A fun, old range for boys
..

I had such a lovely time creating this layout.. It made me smile the entire time!
Thanks for stopping by, Toni..

Scrap The Boys - November

Back at one of my favourite blogs this month..
Scrap The Boys have a delicate challenge this month, to show off the boys "SOFTER" side..

I knew right away that I wanted to use this photo of my oldest boy and my nephew.. It infact was only taken the past weekend, so it's as fresh and up to date as it can be.. lol..
Lane has always had a very quiet and soft side to him, so it was lovely to be able to feature it!

These two super cousins may have 11 years between them, but I can see them being good mates as Ryan grows....
The base of this layout transformed many times until I was finally happy with it..

I've used papers from an older Kaiser range, Limelight collection..

Scrapping Everyday Miracles - November LO challenge

I have been wanting to get back into the challenges at my old DT blog, SEM and finally this month I've had the chance to complete something..
The sketch this month definitely drew my in, but the extra requirement  "THANKFUL",  I knew would make a lovely addition!

I had started this layout last night with some photos of Hunter and a couple of his little friends in some precious moments on stage performing at their Kindy day.. However no matter what I did, I just couldn't get myself happy with the photos and the direction the layout was going..
So instead I decided to do a quick Facebook photo hunt of my family and came across this adorable photo of my Aunty and her Granddaughter (my cousin's little girl)... I know straight away it would be perfect! This morning I got the photo printed, placed it on the layout and BAM "that. was. it!"..

A Perfect Love

The title refers to the special bond that Grandparents and Grandchildren have!
The kind that is perfect, no matter how many imperfections may arise..

Although this layout features my Aunty and her Granddaughter, you may ask "what does that have to do with me?".... Well, my Aunt is the special kind of person that Loves Perfect for everyone!
She is the kind of Aunty that those great poems are wrote about;
Only an Aunt can give hugs like a Mother,
Keep a secret like a Sister,
and share love like a Friend..

I am always grateful for her love, understanding and everlasting pure kindness that she has given me and my boys.. I AM THANKFUL THAT SHE IS MY AUNTY!
I probably don't say it enough, just how much I truly appreciate her and how much of an inspiration she has been to me, both growing up and now as an adult..

Thanks very much for stopping by, I hope you like this page as much as I love it now!!
It has actually turned out way better than I had imagined in the beginning.. :)
You too can drop by the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog for their November challenges..

Usually when I make these sorts of swaps, I like to make 2 or 3 different types / styles, as I normally can never choose which one I want to create, so I create them all.. lol..

Lasting Memories - 216

Lasting Memories - # 216 -  Remember Someone Special

This week I'm super excited to bring to you my latest Canvas designed layout for this DT..
My oldest boy's teacher has just lost her Grandmother, so I asked for a photo and have decided to make this for her, for Christmas.. And I have to admit that it is quite hard having to hold onto it until Christmas, I'm so proud of how it turned out that I want to rush over and give it to the teacher now.. lol

There are so many details in this canvas that I thought it best to make the pic below as big as I can.. :)

Now time for some close ups from around the layout...
The little glass bottle highlights the colour of the necklace in the photo..

I used 3 Prima embellishment packets for this, 1x Prima flower packet, about 15 of the plain white flowers along the bottom.. The really cool "flower centre jewel" thingys.. Lots of super gorgeous clay embellishments that we sent to me in a swap and silver thread ribbon..

Plenty of Gesso on the base and the hessian style ribbon behind the photo...
So it's not exactly a cheap canvas, but it is definitely worth it! I love the finished product and truly hope that Lane's teacher will love it too!!

So please, do remember someone special this week and join us over at the Lasting Memories challenge blog with your layout too!
There are 4 challenges this month, all released on a Monday morning (very late Sunday night, here in Australia).. All the challenges are open for link up from their release post to the end of the month..

*Favourite Game Show

Scrap the Girls - November

G'day friends and family.. I'm happy to be back with you tonight in blog land..
Today I was quite busy making some swaps (that I'll share with you another time) and this great layout featuring a stunning photo of my gorgeous Cousin, Jackie..

I made this layout to enter into the Scrap The Girls challenge blog, November sketch challenge..

Although my desk is cleaned and tidied after each project, I thought I'd quickly share with you a "work in progress" photo.. lol..
The photo above is a good one to display that I've actually used a 6x8 photo under the 5x7 photo on top..
Righto, so I finally got some new photos printed and this is one that I have been wanting for awhile.. I knew this photo was going to get the mojo flowing, but then I had the problem of no paper doing this layout justice... I DON'T ever use my Fairy papers, but for this one, I just knew that they would be the only one's able to make this photo as glamorous as it deserves..

I have stuck as close to the sketch as I possibly could, by placing the flower in the bottom photo corner, adding these flags, keeping the title in the bottom left corner of photo, the embellishments on the top corner of the photo and by making sure the paper under the photo was cropped in..
However I did add some extra embellishments to truly make this photo and layout POP off the page and put my own spin on the challenge..
I titled this layout "Jack" as that is the nickname that I've called her since she was quite little..  :)
Thanks for letting me share this layout.. I'm totally in love with it and am so glad that I released the reigns on my pretties and actually used these papers.. It turned out better than what I had pictured in my head!  :)

Lasting Memories - 215

Lasting Memories  #215 - Use only ONE photo

I love to be a bit different.. So for this challenge I wanted to show you all how some FLOWERS,  PINK and a BUTTERFLY can be used to create an amazing BOY layout!!

This photo which is matted on both white and black cardstock highlights Mark and my two boys a few years ago at our wedding.. They are all wearing Black suits with Pink ties..
The base is matted on black cardstock then plain white cardstock with loads of texture paste, stamps and a mask..
The embellishments as you can see are the flowers, cogs and the bicycle...
There is no journaling or proper title on this layout, instead I combined these to the stamp in the top left corner.. Which is also a bit girly, but works! :)

Thanks for linking up last month! I was excited to see all the support that was shown for the challenges that I had chosen! Now we're onto some even more exciting challenge themes this month, so please make sure you keep an eye on the Lasting Memories challenge blog each week to see if one catches your interest.. You have until the end of the month to link any of the November challenges..
